Spanish Meetup
Hey, I found this great site http://spanish.meetup.com/.
You can put in your location (even in other countries!) and find a group that meets up to practice Spanish. The biggest problem is that it's not available for all areas, and some places (like where I live) need people to run the meetings, so the meetings aren't active at the moment.

Great website, Esperanza! Conversation practice is the very best way to learn how to use the Spanish you're learning. If anybody else has an experience of a Spanish Meetup group, please post it here.

Meetup is awesome
Spanish Meetup in Phila is AWESOME. It is a social event with people of all different levels from native speakers to an 87 yr old man who wants to learn a new language. We meet at different coffee houses and restaurants and even have break off meet ups for people who have different needs . Sometimes we go to art exhibits or cultural events...its free and you dont "have" to go like a club or anything like that...very cool!

I'm a member in my area (Richmond, VA). It's pretty cool. Definitely a good opportunity to butcher the language, I mean, practice! LOL.
Seriously though, you can't learn to effectively communicate in a new language without butchering it, but you have to not be afraid to make mistakes.
Even native speakers, of any language, make plenty of mistakes - so us learners cannot be shy to speak.
If you have one in your area - GO!!!

How would I get in touch with someone from the group to participate? I'd like to do this once I know enough. Thanks. I'm in the suburbs of Philly.
